Princess Page! Oh, Girls love Princesses, Fairies, Unicorns and Castles! I tried to go with the whole 'Primary Colors/Gender non-Specific' things when my daughter was little, but everything quickly turned to pink and purple everything.... it's just the way it is!
I did Cara's 6th Birthday in a big Treasure Chest Theme -- Treasure Chest Cake (I'll write out the instructions for that, since it was very cool...!), but you could fill this pinata with fancy rings & necklaces, toys, sweeties, candies and chocolates. You can get little packages of 'gems' from any Craft Supply Store, like Michaels, or you could swing by your neighbourhood Dollar store.. they're full of fun surprises, wee bits of jewelry you can wrap in tin foil and place in the cake... imagine the girls' faces when all the gems fall out!
Treasure Chest Cake: This Treasure Chest Cake really looks like a 'treasure chest', and it's great for girls and boys... just adjust the 'booty' accordingly... gems and jewels for grls, small toys for boys, but candies and chocolate coins for everybody! the kids will go crazy for this cake, and the adults will love it, too! lol!
(I'll just do it, now, and find the picture, later!) Take an 8" X 8" or 9" X 13" flat cake (any cake mix is fine...just use milk instead of water, and add sour cream to make it extra-moist), let it cool completely, then cut in half.
Ice the bottom piece with Chocolate Icing, then carefully place all sorts of Chocolate Coins, Jewelry, Candy Rings, etc. on top of this First Piece.
Arrange the second half of the cake on top of the toys so it looks like the Treasure Chest is open, then ice carefully. You can use licorice to create a 'hinge' at the back of the cake -- really, I'll have to scan the picture in so you can see Cara's cake! Use Yellow Icing (I like the 'Icing Scribblers' from the Baking Section of your Grocery Store) to draw on a lock. Done! The kids all go mad for this cake!

Home with Ailsa -- What's goin' on, today...
it's the closest I can get to a Blog!
Okay, one day I will figure out how to get a new picture
on here of myself... a much slimmer, blonder Me! lol!
Until then, I have finally made it onto Facebook, and as soon as I figure out
how to set up my new Router, I will be able to 'chat' with you on Facebook --
won't that be fun? There's one lonely picture of me taken last week, when my
lovely daughter, Cara, and I went to a fantastic Sunday Brunch in Marina del
Rey, which I love (Brunch and the Marina!) Soon we'll
all be friends! Yahoo! -
