Building Timeline -- STAGE 4

Stage 1 - Stage 2 * Stage 3 * Stage 4 * Stage 5 * Stage 6

< >

July 12th

Whole week of Mechanical work -- it's such a huuuuge job! Framing Inspection, today -- we passed!

July 16th

Ordered Tile for Kitchen Countertops -- Emerald Pearl Granite Tile -- it's gorgeous! Double Tub and Whirlpool Tub delivered to house from Totem -- look great!

July 19th

I picked up the tile, myself -- aaah -- too heavy for my Van. Had to call Dwight to come and rescue me! Baths are in, and Lower Level completely framed.

July 21st

Got another Appraisal on the house -- only 58% (which translates into only 12% of the house built since May 14th -- crazy. Can't argue with the Banks...have to just keep going and hope for the best.)

July 22nd

Final Plumbing preparation before the walls are closed in (Insulation & Drywall).

July 24th Insulation gets started, today. Organized through Bryce Owens, Elite Drywall.
July 25th More Insulation...
July 26th

Insulators arrived at 4:30am! Man, they work hard! Whole Upper Level of House Done. Drywall was Delivered to House. Dwight & Chad (Dwight's new Employee) built the Attic Hatch in Hallway.

July 27th Drywall begins to go up! Septic Field and Full Service -- Done!
July 29th

Dwight met with Drywaller -- Framing Problems with the Vault in the Kitchen. Dwight came up with a solution -- easier than bringing the Framer back in for a Fix-up.

July 31st

Dwight fixed the Vaulted Area in the Kitchen, ready for Drywall. Framed in the Fireplace and fixed another wall that looked 'squee-jee' (at an angle). Very handy to have a multitude of building skills to handle problems as they occur, rather than having to wait for whatever Trade you need to correct the problems.

Aug. 1st Bought the Bar Fridge from Costco, my favorite store!
Aug. 2nd

Dwight installed the Air Conditioning and Cold Water Lines. Installed the Water Meter. Fireplace to the House, ready for installation.

Aug. 3rd

Bad year for Moths, and they had been flingin' themselves at the windows, so I got the glamorous job of Cleaning the Windows -- word to the wise -- Oxi-clean really does work! Bryce & Eve (Elite Drywall) were Taping & Mudding the Drywall all day. Dwight & Steve plumbed in the Cold Water Lines (another huge job).

Aug. 4th Bought very cool Light for behind the Bar -- looks like Wall Art.
Aug. 5th

Dwight, Steve & Ray -- more Water Lines! I seeded the 'Lawn' -- 50 pounds of grass seed, and I'm only about a third of the way done! Drywallers worked there all day. Finished Drywalling entire Main Floor by late afternoon! Bryce & Steve (another Steve, but still Elite Drywall!) continue mudding and taping the drywall.

Aug. 6th

Went to the Dentist (Dr. Darcy Isted), then bought the Stove at Costco. Dwight & Steve had removed the Third Bench Seat in my Van so I can pick up Appliances!

Aug. 7th

Town Water Turned On, today! WooHoo! Now we can get the Scratch Coat on the House in preparation for the Final Stucco Finish. And maybe even Flush Toilets! The House really comes together quickly in the last month of the build!

Aug. 8th Quick Haul had to pick up two loads of Drywall and other Construction Debris.
Aug. 9th

Dwight & Crew work on the Upstairs Fireplace Installation, the Cold Water Lines. I continued to Clean the Windows & Floors (really big job -- needs to be done before the Painter comes in). Barry Vos (Vision Stucco) set up his stuff to begin the Scratch-Coat, which is the Coat that goes on the House before the Final Stucco Covering.

Aug. 10th

More Window Cleaning -- Dwight figured out that the Windows have a cool feature where the bottom of the window 'slides out' so you can clean it from the inside -- finally got all the hideous moths out! More work on the Gaslines, Fireplace, the Bath Surrounds and General Clean-Up.

Aug. 12th Upstairs Fireplace Installed -- looks great! More Mudding & Taping on the Drywall.
Aug. 13th

Barry Vos (Visions Stucco) began the Scratch-Coat, today! It's great to have Running Water! (Scratch-Coat can't begin until then...) Deerfoot Carpet Measured for all the Carpet in the House. More work on the Gasline, Fireplace & Tub Surrounds. Drywall almost done!

Aug. 14th

Bought Main Lights from Rona-Revy -- they're gorgoeus! Don't forget to get your Contractor's Discount Card for Great Prices! Scratch-Coat Half Done, already! Bryce & Eve still working like mad on the Drywall -- should be ready for the Stipling, soon. Thanks to Elite Drywall for such a great job!

Aug. 15th

Paid for all the Cabinetry & Doors at Totem -- thanks to all the great Staff at Totem for making that huge job easy! Ceiling Completely Stipled -- California Knockdown -- looks amazing! Who knew you could love a ceiling so much?? ha,ha,ha!

Aug. 16th

Chose gorgeous Tiles for the Bathrooms, and WooHoo -- Dwight liked them! Swept the Drywall Dust (and lots of it!) in preparation for the Painter. Met with our Cabinet Installer -- we'll call him 'Dick', which seems pretty accurate(!) -- to protect the incredibly annoying! Appeared to be completely normal... Drywall Sanders completely done. Cabinetry Delivered -- looks great!

Aug. 17th

More work on the Scratch-Coat -- it's a really big house! Steve & Chad did a Final Clean-Up, ready for Painting! Thanks, Steve & Chad for all your great work! It takes a team to get this kind of project done!

Aug. 18th Stayed Home and Worked on the Lawn all day -- a day off???
Aug. 19th

House Prime Coated with our Actual Colors -- looks amazing! Little worried about Dwight's reaction to the color in the Main Area (Suede), but he liked it! We should change his name to 'Mikey'! Look for Nu-Trend Painting on the Business & Classified Page. Cara & I are packing like mad for the Big Move!
